MADELEY ORCHARD DAY - 21st June 2009

We arrived 1pm with; the old tin bath full of soaked and softened willow canes,
buckets of brilliant yellow chrysanthemums, startling white daises, deep purple stasis and trailing strings of variegated ivy. With ribbons of; gold, summer sky blue, jolly red and palest yellow.
The event was well underway having started midday, a cheerful lady giving out tickets for free ice-cream met us at the gate and directed us to our allocated place under a gazebo which did its job in sheltering visitors from brief summer rainfall.

Dawley Bank Horticultural Show 5th September 2009

Welcome to Dawley Bank Horticultural Show 2009.

Hot off the press! Borough of Telford & Wrekin have finalised documentation DBHS  can go ahead with preparing a parcel of reclaimed land in Dawley Bank for allotment usage. See inside for location and details…

It is time to reconnect with our planet and take matters into our own hands, spend less time worrying and more time gardening; it is a myth to say ‘growing fresh fruit and veg is not something we are born with, gardening does not come naturally to all’.

Come along and join us in reawakening and trusting your instinct by planting, harvesting and working with nature. Of course you also need a little inspiration, motivation and some basic gardening equipment. The only mechanical piece of equipment you will ever need in the

garden is the wheelbarrow. Nothing is ever straight- forward in the

garden as in life; if it were many gardeners would give up at the first hurdle through sheer boredom.

Nature always throws in a few problems just to keep us on our toes, weather for instance; it’s too wet or too dry; too hot or too cold. Turn your back for a minute and weeds appear everywhere and just when everything is looking perfect a plague of greenfly attack your honeysuckle, the mower breaks down and the handle snaps off that spade which belonged to your dad.

Many problems are such that you can just live with them while others need only minor attention.

Remember the essence of our show is fun and participation of all age groups and abilities.

In response to a request we have another craft section this year, ‘Any Craft’ please note that limited space means exhibits in this section should not exceed 12insx14ins.

Good Luck

Carol

Rain stopped play!

We were looking forward with great anticipation to our Garden Trail this year especially as 2008 was dampened somewhat by inclement weather.

In an attempt to beat the grey clouds, it was decided to bring the date forward a month to blazing June 09.

The weather God had other ideas for this weekend!

Open Gardens day - 7th June 2009

Beginning at Kath & Malcolms No6 Ladygrove TF4 2LS (off Old Office Rd)
Here you may collect your map and partake of refreshment.

There are ten gardens this year all are beautiful to look at and spiritually refreshing as they help harmonize our earths atmosphere.
Gardening is about having a go at things and embracing opportunities, an ounce of practice is worth a pound of theory.

Gardens Open from 12noon until 5pm.

Cost is £2.50 or £2 concession

Suggested route is clearly mapped or you may after closer study choose to disregard this and pick out your own specific gardens to visit. It really doesn’t matter, here at DBHS we care only that you thoroughly enjoy sharing this high summer Sunday afternoon experience with other like- minded folk.
As you zigzag through the historic settlements of Lawley Bank spare a moment to admire an age old unchanged landscape looking west towards that legendary 1,300ft hill, ‘The Wrekin’.
